Scotty Cameron?

I am thinking about buying a Scotty Cameron Studio Newport. I have demoed it more than enough times now and i think i made up my mind to buy one. I had one last thing i wanted to ask around and see if anyone has ever sent a used putter into the custom shop and got it refurbed. I have looked on ebay and you can get them for as low at 30 bucks but they are pretty dinged up. The custom shop charges like 100 to refurb your club so i was thinkin this might be a keeper route for a starving college student.

Has anyone done this? How did it come out? How messed up was the putter you sent in? Do you have any before/after pictures? Thanks

Ive owned at least a half dozen Scotties( pretty pricey too I might add) , but never quite got the feel I have with other putters...previously one of the best places to get a used one was online (golfclubexchange.com)...you might also try a playitagain sports resale/buy store. I dont think 100 to refurb a putter is a bad price if its in bad shape, otherwise give a look at your local major golf only retailer (golf mart, vans, roger dunn, tgw.com, edwinwattsgolf.com) as they ocasionally get a nice trade in flatstick...retail priced golf gear is the generally the worst because of the mark-up (much like jewelry)...you lose half of what you pay new as soon as you walk out of the shop...all that said, good luck and putt well!

The PGA Golf Tour is in full swing and for many parts of the country and world the golf season is upon us. Many of you are anxious to dust off the golf clubs and get out to the golf course for your first round of golf. A question that may be on your mind is how do I get ready? How do I knock off 6 months of rust on my golf swing, feel comfortable with my driver on the first tee, and post a good golf score at the end of the round?

All questions that are asked often in the world of professional golf and this article will provide you with the answers. Answers to these questions and many more fall under the category of how do I prepare myself for the golf season?

Interesting enough if the guidelines from this article are followed the golf score you post for your first round of the year may be lower than you ever expected, the distance of your drives may well be farther than you imagined, and the number of accurate golf shots you hit may be even more surprising!

The answer to all the questions on how to get ready for the upcoming golf season centers on preparation. Preparation is the key to a successful first round of golf and every round you play in the upcoming golf season.

We all probably understand the definition of preparation but lets take a quick look in order for us to all be on the same page. Preparation can be defined as the work or planning involved in making something or somebody ready or putting something together in advance (Encarta Dictionary, MSN.com).

Now that we have this breakdown of the game of golf into full swing, short game, and putting the next step is to implement a series of drills to work on each of these aspects. Simply put I would suggest devising a series of drills to work on each part of the golf game/swing. This can easily be accomplished by purchasing a few books or videos from one of the top-teaching professionals in the world of golf.

Each one of these qualified golf instructors have numerous materials available to help you with your golf swing. And if you are one of those individuals that lives in a cold climate and is unable to get to a driving range or practice facility, no need to worry. Most all of the instructional videos/books available have drills that can be performed in the comfort of your own home.

At this point we have a couple of bases covered in the "preparation plan" for the upcoming golf season. We understand preparation is key to a successful year on the golf course, the "preparation plan" begins well in advance of the first tee time of the year, and a portion of the plan consists of swing drills. What fairway wood is more versatile?

Which of these is more versatile as in using it on the tee and on the fairway?
a) titleist 909F2 fairway
b) titleist 909F3 fairway

In terms of versatility, the F3 seems to be the better of the two. They're made of the same materials (17-4 stainless steel crown, 275 Carpenter steel face), but the F3 is more pear (classically) shaped, with a half-degree open clubface, whereas the F2 has a slightly larger face and isn't open. That means the F2 is more forgiving (albeit probably only slightly) and the F3 is made to work the ball.

Just got my new set of G10 irons blue dot +1/2 AWT stiff steel w/ cushion. I couldn't be happier!!! I'm a club junkie and have hit literally every iron out there and came to the conClusion that I love PING irons. I've played cobra and lately taylormade mostly but I've hit callaway a ton. The feel of the pings is unequalled. The callaway comes close but I like the construction ofthe stainless steel and the durability othe G10. some will say they don't likethe looks I think they look sweet and different. Like everyone else pls go get fitted take five minutes and is worth it's weight in gold. I'm 6'2 and played standard forever and adjusted my swing and now that I dont have to do that anymore I cant wait for the strokes to just come off. Get Fitted hit these clubs once and you'll be hooked. And the cushions make them a D 2 swing weigh which i loved and the feel is awesome ever hit is soft. GET eM Ebay 350 bucks can't beat it.

I think the Ping G10 driver is certainly a step up from the G5 and better than the Rapture. I have just bought a G10 and updated from the G5. Like in my old G5 I have a 9 degree stiff shafted, with a prolaunch red. The Ping G10 golf club certainly sends the ball higher than the G5 and would be great for those who struggle to get the ball airborne. The feel off the face is more positive and the flight a little more powerful as opposed to the more floating flight of the G5. I reckon I've gained about 7 yards off the tee with the G10 compared to the G5 with good strikes from both. Cosmetically it's pleasing but the moon is more discrete, however this is great for alignment. In my opinion, a good upgrade over the G5 and outstanding value for money
