Should I return a golf putter I stole?

Last night I stole a golf putter from someone's house at a party. Should I return it or should I just keep it? I need advice please. It's a very big golf club so I'm guessing the owner of the club is a big guy and he might want to hurt me. I need advice.

Ahh the classic stolen golf club dilemma, this is similar to Plato's cave allegory. Should you stay in the dark (return the club) or come out to the light (keep it). And obviously Plato said that it is much better in the light for the light represents knowledge. In the word's of Plato: "only homos return stolen golf clubs." My advice, and Plato's, is to keep it. The first thing to consider while buying a golf club putter is the material that is used for the putter head itself. More so than any other golf club in your bag, your putter relies on feel to be used successfully. So the kind of material that is used for the putter head can be important. Unfortunately, there's almost no end to the different kinds of material that are used for putter heads including stainless steel, brass, copper, aluminum and lots more. The only way to see how the putter head material transmits feel is to try them all out yourself. Lighter materials also tend to contribute to more hand action in the stroke, whereas heavier putter heads tend to slow down the stroke and help it remain more consistent.

The greatest merit in using a center shafted putter is that it provides the perfect distance control and accurate putting stance. If a center shafted putter has a brass insert, then it has been observed that the feel and feedback to the player is perfectly delivered. As soon as the ball hits at the centre of the putter face, it gives a soft “click†sound that allows a golfer to gauge his/her effectiveness in putting.

Golf club putter terms explained in alphabetically order. In your search for a golf club putter that fits you many technical terms whizzed past your ears. So, let me explain some of them point by point in alphabetical order.

 

Belly Putter - Longer shaft than usually, but not the same lenght as a so-called Broomstick or Long putter. The shaft end is placed - let's call it anchored - to your belly, that's the firm hinge point for making a balanced pendule swing. Has a thicker grip. Some lady golfers swear by this putter type, others can't stand the position and rather choose for more conventional equipment.

Bent Putter or Curved Putter - The tip of the shaft has a small curve to the putter head, meant for more balance and offset.

Blade Model - Iron head form, flat face, but difficult for beginners, good for mid and especially low handicap women. Sometimes the blade model is heel shafted: the tip of the shaft is tied to the heel of these type of lady golf putters. Sometimes center shafted putter: if the shaft is tied to the center of the club head - then it is also called center shaft putter.

Broomstick Golf Club Putter or Long Putter - Longer than all other lady golf putters. This lady golf club is difficult. You have to be sure about your technique to control this one.

Center Shaft Putter - The shaft is tied to the center of the head. Difficult to control. Beginners better can choose another one.

Conventional Putter - Use this golf club putter, if you could, in other words, at least start with a conventional putter. That's what pro's are teaching us. So let us be well-behaved! Concentrate on you putting line and go!

Face Balanced - The toe and the heel are in balance. You can test this by yourself: just put the middle of the shaft on your forefinger - if the golf putter remains balancing horizontal, then it is a face balanced club. I recommended this one for short putts. Ideal for a perfect pendule swing!

Heel Toe Weighted - The weight has been distributed equally to the heel and toe - sometimes by using inserts (see under Insert), sometimes by a cavity designed center. Meant to make, according to manufacturers, the lady golf putter more forgiving.

Hosel - The point where the shaft is fixed onto the lady golf putter head.

Insert - Small stripes of metal to distributed the weight in a lady golf putter head. Inserts of soft materials are used to create a kind of a jumping or trampoline effect when you hit the ball, or a buffing effect when the putter is used at a very fast green.

Mallet - Putter with a large and well-known semi-circled head. The weight is equally devided over the head.

Milled Putter - Golf club putter heads constructed by a special production method for creating the perfect loft and precision.

Offset Golf Putter - Your hands are further ahead from the club face. Meant for lady golfers who actually push the ball to the hole. Your eyes are more above the ball, thus you can create more top spin.

Perimeter Weighted - The weight has been distributed over the edges of the head, creating a largers sweetspot, therefore these lady golf putters forgive more mishits.

Toe Weighted - The weight has been distributed to the toe of the golf club putter.

Adults Suffering From Low Self Esteem

For adults there are a range of self tests available on the internet that can help us assess our level of self esteem. There are also some for older children which are worded in a way that children will feel comfortable with.

But we can ask some simple questions like...

- Do you feel comfortable trying new things and meeting new people?

- Do you think you are generally liked?

- Do you think you have the respect of your work colleagues?

- Do you feel happy most of the time?

- Do you look forward to new challenges?

- Do you value your own opinion?

If you answer yes to these questions you probably don't have low self esteem. However if you think you have low self esteem, you might want to find out more.

Sometime it helps just to read about self esteem and think about how feel about what we have read. We may feel that although we don't have the optimum level of self esteem, we are reasonably self confident and just need to have a bit of a tinker with some of our attitudes and feelings.

For example, an understanding of how our level of self esteem is formed can give us a better feel for our level of esteem. Our experiences with our family and other people as we are growing up will be very instrumental in developing our self esteem.

If we are treated well, kindly and fairly by our parents, teachers and peers, we are more likely to have a healthy level of self esteem. However if we are treated badly, and we believe unfairly, it is more likely that our self esteem will be low. Regular criticism, being told we are useless, stupid etc., being constantly being reminded of our failings. These are likely to damage our self esteem.

Low self esteem can result if we are generally told we are useless or stupid. If we are shouted at, or ignored, or made to feel we are in the way, or not really wanted these attitudes are damaging to self esteem.

On the other hand, if we experience a kind and understanding reaction to an exam failure, or not getting a certain job or onto the netball or football team, we may from an early age understand that one exam failure doesn't mean we are failures as people.

Supportive and loving parents, and others who keep things in a sensible perspective, will help us develop a good and healthy level of self esteem. These people will want us to feel good about ourselves. They won't want us to have negative feelings about ourselves, and they won't want us to be full of ourselves either.

Sadly, many people who suffer from low self esteem find it hard to develop good communication skills. For their children this can be devastating, and serves to pass down to the next generation the same difficulties and concerns they have themselves.

If we can learn from this, we can see that the way those who have hurt us have behaved reflects more on themselves than it does on us. They don't want to hurt us, but don't know how to behave differently.

Learning that self esteem is itself a learned behavior is important in helping us to change our view of ourselves. If something is learned, it can often be unlearned.

If we can learn how to value ourselves more fairly, we can influence our future behavior, our future life chances. Perhaps most importantly, we can learn how to behave better with our own children or other youngsters in order to improve their life chances too.

I have just discovered a hairless patch about the size of a silver dollar just under my knee cap, whats this?

Honestly, I'm not really worried, but rather curious about how I could suddenly discover a hairless patch under my kneecap on 1 knee. I was laying on the couch and had an itch on my knee...I thought it felt funny (prickly) and when I looked, I realized it was a perfect circle of smooth skin with small prickles of hair coming up - like the stubble on a man's face in the morning. Any ideas what this is all about? I find it amusing, but strange....I'm pretty sure I haven't been targeted by a prankster, but thats what it looks like...haha. Just wanted to see if anybody else has had any spontaneous smooth spots pop-up where there used to be hair.

It usually happens to guys where their pants might rub on a certain part of their legs. Think of anything that might routinely brush up against this area.

Today, I would like to recommend TaylorMade Rac Black TP Wedge to golfers.I am going to use the simplest way to talk you into trying it yourselves.

"The wedges are very eye pleasant. I like the look and the shape of the clubhead.
The feeling is very soft and the length controll is absolutely amazing. I use the 52° for shots with 1-2 metres roll and the 56° stopps right at the impact point. Shots from around 60-80 metres you can easily backspin the ball.The grooves do a good job.
These are great wedges in every point. I used them now for half a year and they look absolutely new.
Overall great wedges... i like them better than the titleist vokey wedges. More spin und controll.
Only the regular price is a bit high. If you can get them cheap in ebay, buy them.
I will play them till they die!!! "

"These are fantastic wedges. I have the 60 degree smoke finish with Z grooves. The club looks very appealing at address and has a good stock shaft/weight configuration. The grooves are very nice and allow a player to control spin easily. I can actually spin the ball from 15 yards again.

The downside of this wedge is durability. When it was brand new I took it the course practice facility and hit about 15 or so sand shots. The bottom of the sole immediatelly wore down and the finish was completelly gone. Also the milled grooves dissappeard from the bottom 2 grooves. I think if I were to hit a small bucket of balls from the bunker, the tiny groove millings on the club face would be completelly worn off!

After two weeks of playing the wedge, it has a lot of dings and dents from just sitting in the golf bag. I use a 3-wheel push cart which doesn't bounce around much at all.

So overall the durability is not great. It's a very expensive club that appears that it will wear out in less than a season. I've only played 4 rounds or so with this club and it looks like it's a year old at least. I'm a person who takes excellent care of clubs too. My Nike blade irons still look brand new after more than 3 years of playing them."

This was the second club that I fell in love with. The first being my 3 wood,(cobra sz) this wedge leaves me speechless. I spent many hours on the practice green learning how to control its distance and different types of shots and then I was ready. My first round I immediately noticed its awesomeness. It stopped when I wanted it to, and ran when I wanted it to. Without a doubt this is one of the highlight clubs in my bag. If you are clueless on wedge choice, give this one a shot. Make sure you keep the grooves clean from grass and dirt, or else you won't get the stoppage you wish."

"mate of mine had a couple of these and raved about them so at TM demo day, after trying some of the 2007 drivers and irons, which I wasn't that impressed with, I picked up the 52* wedge and causally took aim at a flag 100 yards away.
Straight away this wedge just worked in my hands. I was very impressed and more than a little surprised - I had no idea it would feel like this!
I neither know nor care about the funky grooves, 'feel pockets' or whatever else TM claim to reinvented golf with this week, to me this is simply an excellent wedge that has reinvigorated my short game. I have tried Vokeys (as posted by another reviewer in Nov '05, theese seemed to lack feel and just didn't really work for me) and Mizuno wedges but for me this is head and shaft above them all.
I have always been a decent chipper although recently I had lost some sharpness. Using this club I have got it all back and more. Yesterday I made 5 chips to within 15 inches during a competition, something I would have struggled to do before I put this wedge into play. Whatever I've tried to do with it, I've almost always been able to pull off.
One thing that really surprised me is that this is not a forged wdege but cast (ahem!) you preconceptions aside, none of the feel and control is missing. This is a great club and I'm actually considering buying a spare. Not cheap but many of the best things never are.
I would also like to point out that I am not a great TaylorMade fan, quite the opposite. Although I have carried a TM 3wood for a couple of years, I'm not keen on the way they incessantly bring out new clubs that seem to be no better than those they retire despite claims to the contrary!
HOWEVER, credit where credit's due, TM; this wedge really is quality."

Is it ok to walk on the golf course?

I run a monthly walking group. On occasion a good route intersects with a golf course. Is it ok to walk on the golf course, given that we mostly stick to the paths and most definitely stay off the fairway?

No it would not be appropriate to walk on a golf course. Golf requires focus and concentration and your walkers would be distracting. We pay a fee to use the course. You are welcome to pay the fee and walk with us.
There are rules of decorum during a round that dictate when and where to walk and when and where to remain still.
There is a risk of being struck by balls in play and a non player would be at significantly greater risk of injury on a course when play is in progress.
We would love to have you learn the game and join us on the course as players. A typical round when walked covers about 6 miles.

Finding the

Best Golf Clubs for your Golf Game

It is a delightful and true fact that ladies are very different from men. However, because about 10% of golf club sales are to women, the large golf club manufacturers don't put the same effort into the ladies as their male counterparts.

One of the gender differences that impacts golf club selection is the amount of proportionate weight and mass in both the hips and the chest. Women have slightly more there and it affects their golf swing. A shorter, more flexible shaft helps the ladies make a smoother swing with less physical effort. A lighter club head is also helpful and ladies clubs usually have smaller club heads.

As a result of these physical differences, women usually have slower swing speeds than men. The faster a golfer swings, the less loft is needed, so the ladies need a little help from their friend, the golf club manufacturer. Golf clubs are now being designed for ladies that help compensate for a slower swing with what is coming to be known as "ladies shaft flex" and a slightly higher degree of loft on each club. When choosing a club, It is very important that your shaft flexibility and club loft match your swing speed. Graphite shafts are a great way to increase club flexibility.

What does this mean to your game? It is uncommon for the average woman golfer to achieve a swing speed over 60 miles an hour. This means, if the golf ball is struck reasonably well, it will probably travel 180 yards down the fairway. Golf club shafts with a ladies flex will insure maximum distance. However, if a lady swung a club with a stiffer shaft that was designed for an 80 mph swing speed, the ball would never reach the 180 yard mark.

A shorter club can also add distance and accuracy to your swing, but how short should your golf club be? A simple way to determine the club length that is best for you is to take two measurements. First how tall are you? Then take your wrist to floor measurement. To do this, relax your arm and point your fingers toward the ground. Right handed players should measure their left hand. Opposite for the lefties. The wrist to floor measurement is from your wrist crease to the floor.

For example, if you are between 5'4" and 5'7" and your wrist to floor measurement is 32 ½ ", you will need a club that is ½ inch shorter than the standard size. Visit our Club Length chart to find your exact size.

Contrary to popular belief, less loft doesn't mean more distance and this is especially true for female golfers, off the tee. A slightly higher lofted driving club will give the ladies a better launch angle and result in a better trajectory and more distance down the fairway. Many women simply use a three wood off the tee and get great results. Drivers should have a loft of between 13 and 15 degrees.

Finally, get a grip. A poor or slippery grip can ruin an otherwise delightful round of golf. Make sure the grip fits your hands. The best way to decide on a grip is to try several different sizes and styles. When you hold a golf club in your hand, your fingers should just touch the heel of your palm. If they don't touch, the grip is too large. If your fingers "dig in" to your palm heel, it's too small. Like the three little bears, your grip has to be just right.

Change your grip often. It's not a huge expense and will reward you with lower scores.
